Mai Fest!!!
It's BAAAAAACK!!! MAI FEST is back for its 3rd year! This year we are movin on out to the streets. We are closing down Olde Western Ave from Blue Island Beer Co all the way to Canal Street giving us a true street festival feel. We will have another great collection of artisan vendors selling their handmade objects and artwork, along with a variety of food vendors to provide nourishment throughout the day. It's the Saturday before Mother's Day again this year, so come on out with mom, or look for that perfect one of a kind gift for her!

Craft Night- June
Join us for Wednesday Craft Nite, as we play the Game of Shrooms 2024!
Game of Shrooms is a once a year world-wide art N seek event created by Attaboy. The next Game of Shrooms happens on June 8th, 2024, in just a couple days! On that day, artists from all over the world hide their works of art!
But I got some QUESTIONS…
Can anyone participate?
Yes, And of all ages and abilities. So long as you are not a jerk. And ANYONE can hunt for mushrooms, too.
Does it have to be a mushroom themed piece of art?
That’s the idea. Mushrooms are varied though and art critics have not been invited to weigh in on the subject.
Can I stick stickers all over the place?
No, The idea is that other people can find, collect and keep your art. Stickers are fun, but We don’t encourage harming property. Make something one of a kind. See below How to for tips!
What if no one finds my art?
They probably will find it! Especially if given clues and it is an original work (not a giclee print). But, if they dont find it, it’s your responsibility to go back and grab the hidden art if they don’t. Leave no trace, be a mushroom ninja. We encourage that you leave clues and tips to friends/fans before the event! And hide near landmarks. Don’t make it too hard to find. Or too easy! Some of the best hiding spots are in plain site! All that being said sometimes folks find work but don’t tell the artist. That’s why we encourage you to make 2-3 works, then hunt for others’ art!
Can I hide my artisinal product, coupon, etc?
Nah. That’s not what this is about. Take a day off from that, pause the hustle and create a one of a kind piece of art and give it away. I promise you will have more fun that way. K?
When Can I hide my art?
Starting on June 8th, 2024 at 12:01 am. until 11:59 pm.
How To Tips for new planters & artists:
Make painting or sculpture or other art. If you are doing little paintings, I find it is best to add little popsicle sticks to bottom of them in the back so that the art doesn’t get dirty if placed near the ground. Just a suggestion, post preview teasers to build the suspense. Add a link to where you’ll be posting previews to the Global Map! Be sure to mention the city or general area you’re in too. Also be sure to #tag it #gameofshrooms unless, of course, want to be a mysterious farmer.
Put your IG tag on the back of your art and #shroomdrop and #gameofshrooms2024 if you can.
Plant or place art; don’t hurt nature or property. Avoid protected areas. If it rains, you can hide inside friendly Indy stores as well. If you ask, they’ll even help you often.
After you plant, take a few photo clues to post. I suggest a close up, then a wide shot, with a landmark of some kind visible (old church, sign post, etc) location tag helps if you are in a suburban area. See examples at GOS Official account on Instagram.

Sound Bath & Yoga Meditation
Enjoy a super special Sound healing event at BUB cafe with our friends, Jessica Sanchez, Laura chernicky, and Becky Gallo-wensel utilizing their skills in gong wash, breath work, and yoga to create a sound journey of well-being!
Its been proven that music and certain frequencies promote a healthy chemical release in the brain to allow for healing of physical wounds, release of pain in chronic pain situations, and even improving stimulating certain areas of the brain by improving cognitive function and memory.
while these seem like broad stroke claims, think of the ways in which we utilize music every day to boost our moods: to get us pumped while exercising to help release healthy endorphins, when we go out dancing with friends there is flood of happy serotonin and dopamine to make you feel high and alive, and even playing the right music can make you feel all lovey-dovey and in da mooood with a release of oxytocin!
The right calming and healing frequencies can also be reached to promote a decrease in heart rate, and along with healthy breathing techniques stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system’s response and recovery time.
It has even be found that sedative music is an effective form of meditation and stimulation for the vagus nerve (that governs our Flight, fight, freeze response) which is essential to our body’s homeostasis.
Especially for folks who struggle with more “traditional” forms of Meditation, ya know the ‘sit-stay-try-not-to-think’ kind…THIS is an excellent opportunity to delve into a new way to meditate that might help to quiet your body’s Parasympathetic nervous system in a way that is more accessible to YOU!
We will offer a night of 30-45 mins of light yoga, where our guests will help you wind down into a savasana, or resting pose. wherein they will begin your sound healing journey, with gong wash, singing bowls, rain-sticks, and gentle scent of lavender from Jess’ own apothecary, which will also last about 30-45 mins.

Be. Women's Meet-Up: CBD, CBN, CBC Health and Wellness
Bridget Barnoski from Be. Dispensary in Blue Island, will be providing an evening of informative discussion for the women of this community about CBD, CBC, and CBN products, and the health and wellness benefits they provide!
During this discussion, Bridget looks to dispel any unease or stigma that may come with entering the cannabis dispensary as solo female or even for first time use looking to seek a more wellness-minded approach to their experience with cannabis.
From treating pain, mental health, to finding new and relaxing ways to engage socially, Bridget will discuss and answer questions focused on highlighting the ways in which CBD can be effective for an array of nerve and chronic pain treatments, as well as a way to create a relaxing alternative to enjoy socially.
There is no ticket price to attend this community discussion, rather a $5 donation is highly suggested.

Our inaugural Wednesday Night Craft Night begins with ode to all you members of Sgt Pepper’s Brigade and all you Lonely Hearts looking for a Valentines hangout…we got you covered down at BUB!
We’ll be making our own collages of the Sgt. Pepper cover! You can mod podge on album covers, on records, kitchen wares, your office supplies… and always if you feel like going rogue, bring your own knitting, or craft projects and just hang out!
